Get yourself to the Algarve, Portugal!

I’m just back from Albufeira and fuck does that place have stuff to do.

The very south of Portugal is where I was for a holiday with my girlfriend for 8 nights which was relatively cheap and affordable for top class accommodation and facilities.

First of all is the coast and the scenery which can be explored. I love climbing shit and exploring and myself and herself went into caves and non-tourist like routes. Although it was slimy, wet and sore on my feet seeing crabs crawling around the rocks was different to being lazy on the beach. Seeing the sunset from deep in the coastline rocks made me enjoy Albufeira, on the first day!

Going to the water park on the third day after a day in the sun by the pool really sent me back to being an excited child running around going on slides over and over again. With my GoPro in my hand on some of the slides looking back it was probably the best day of my travel. “Slide and Splash” water park is one you must check out if in the area.

Walking down to the old town on most nights for top quality food and cocktails, we ventured off to smoke some flavoured tobacco. It was always an aim for me to try it out and see what it’s like. If you smoke you’ll probably enjoy it, if you don’t smoke ah well you’ll enjoy the experienced.

With lots of tourist attractions myself and my girlfriend had some ideas. After many inspections parasailing and dolphins and caves experiences came into mind. For the dolphins and caves we went straight into the Atlantic and saw dolphins in their natural habitat. This was a different experience, regardless of how many TV documentaries and films you see with dolphins or any animal, in real life is the only experience. The caves wasn’t as equally amazing however provided the beauty of the untouched effects of the sea.

With parasailing on the second last day we didn’t know what to expect. Flying a hundred meters in the sky one the sea by a harness? Not your usual Monday? However when up in the air it was the most peaceful experience in the world. You don’t have to worry about e-mail, your phone, how much is in your bank account. For me it wasn’t adrenaline for what I was expecting but a feeling of stillness and awe of the scenery which can’t be seen from any other view.

Quality food, drinks and things to do in Albufeira are for anyone so get your ass down there for anyone who needs a break or an adventure for something different.

Cut It Out Of Your Life.

Get down and depressed sometimes. Yeah do do I.

It’s shit and can ruin the day or a whole week.

We don’t need this stuff in our live and some people thrive on giving bad news and spreading the negatives.

Have that family or friend who comes out with lines like these?:

    “God the government haven’t a clue, the country gone to hell”

     “Sure that’d impossible I’m too busy for that”

      “Isn’t it terrible people don’t have water or food to eat”

These people are stupid by wasting time on the negatives which bring them down and the people around them down on a daily basis.

The reality is these people speak of all the bad things that happen in life, but will NEVER DO ANYTHING TO HELP OR CHANGE THESE NEGATIVES.

Some people, usually the older generation thrive on talking about deaths or bad news. For us people who actually want to get shit done and have a positive life don’t need these people around us.

Keep it positive always because there is a ridiculous amount of negativity when there doesn’t have to be. 

5 Simple Tips to Reduce and Help Anxiety.

Have Anxiety? Yeah so do I.

Hate it? Yeah so do I.

Isn’t it just fucking annoying when we have nothing to be worried about?

But we still are.

Everyone goes through their anxious phases, some more than others.

Here are five simple things you may lack doing that is contributing to your anxiety rising and things you can do to help bring it down to a normal level.

1. Water

We all know we need a good amount of water each day to keep our body and mind healthy. However lots of us neglect this simple human obligation which we all have access to. Even if some of us can’t force down 3 liters of water a day, a liter can greatly keep your body and mind focused reducing them anxious thoughts.

I need my sleep not to feel anxious. Whatever the case is, I need my sleep, like a lot of the population. A good nap in the evenings can drastically improve your mood and bring down them anxious feelings. Sleep helps all areas of your life but especially getting them extra hours help us anxious people.

3. Getting Outside.

We forget what is outside the window sometimes. The great outdoors beats sitting in the dark on Instagram and Facebook all day. Being outdoors allows fresh air to come into the system, help you get Vitamin D and will also help you sleep better that night. Outside is free and will always be there to reduce anxiety and show that everything isn’t as bad and worrying as it may seem.

For us anxious people we tend to get OCD about everything. “I can’t do that because it might effect X,Y,Z.” We forget to have fun. To reduce and help your anxiety, remember to have fun as much as you can, don’t take everything too serious. Go see friends, watch some Netflix, go see a comedian/concert, chill out and change the mood to a positive happy one. A lot of us forget to have fun and that is a root to a lot of problems and moods in society today.

5. Take One Day at a Time.

We all like to look to the future, with anxious people it may happen too much. Stressing over if you might get a window seat on your flight to Spain in three months and getting your knickers in a twist won’t help the people around you and especially your mind and current mood. Remember we can only take one day at a time and that’s the reality regardless if the world will blow up tomorrow, you can’t really do much except be in the moment.

If your that person who wants to do big things with your life but don’t know how to even start, you might be ahead of everyone else by a few percent already.

Have that family member or friend who is so driven to do great shit but always has a different goal every week?

Is another friend obsessed with Britain’s Got Talent and then after puts up a inspiration quote on Facebook/Instagram a few minutes later, but still stuck on the couch watching idiots on telly with the hope he/she someday might be famous and successful.

Know that person in your area who goes to church, claims he/she loves God but talks through the whole sermon and then betrays all religious rules once their “hour” is done on Sunday?

Majority of people are lazy, negative and hypocritical.

I listen to a lot of different podcasts on self-help, business and success and a million different quotes are said, but one of them that stood out and always will is:

                   “You can learn what to do to be successful from stupid people”

Know your facial expression may have turned to “confusion” there, but think about it!

We all know the super powers of success Arnold, Richard Branson, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates. We all know they have implemented hard work, time, blood, sweat, tears and visualization to become the #1 in their respective fields.

But what can you and I learn from stupid people? Now this isn’t insulting or picking a social group due to their IQ levels or anything.

However from the average person with their head stuck in their phone we know that to be anyway different to them,

          Don’t sit on social media all day liking and strolling through feeds

          Don’t say your going to do something and be afraid to even attempt it,

         Don’t complain about your life while finishing another season on Netflix.

We all know these negative people who we need to get away from to have our own success.

If me and you realize what not to do from the people around us in everyday in our worlds we will stand out of the 5% of the population who are different and can get shit done!

That’s why when haters hit anyone, me or you in their daily life we know that this person is anonymous. That they are just jealous that he/she isn’t doing anything good with their time.

For myself I’m aiming for a hundred words to be wrote everyday so I can get this blog bigger and better. It may not seem like a lot but it separates me from the average person who will always dream instead of doing.

Get on the Coffee bandwagon!

I’m Irish and we are known for our tea drinking habits.

Everyone in Ireland is offered a cup of tea when going to a friends or family house.

I always get it and take two sugars then have a biscuit or ten and stuff myself with sugar, it just isn’t healthy at all.

Then  I switched to coffee, no sugar, just a bit of milk. Perfect.

I used to hate the smell of it, but I experimented and got on the coffee train, drinking just near 2 cups a day, no more. 

I always thought coffee was bad but however they’re are loads of health benefits to your body and mind from coffee.

For your mind: 

  1. Coffee can help delay and prevent  Alzheimer’s.  Research shows that caffeine blocks inflammation in the brain. Do I need to say much more? Drink coffee and Don’t lose your memory, Win/Win situation.
  2. Coffee increases your energy levels. If your mind has that extra bit of energy to finish that essay for school or finish your work after a long day at work, your only going to have positive knock on effects and be able to get more shit done!

For your body: 

  1. It increases physical performance. Coffee is a great pre-workout to get your groove on before a gym session or going out cycling/running. Also it’s a change from trying to drowned yourself with liters of water before working out.
  2. Source of 1,000 of antioxidants. Antioxidants help fight cancers, arthritis, and protects our cells from damage. Now if that ain’t good for you I really dunno what else to say. A cancer fighting hot tasty drink, where could you go wrong.

For me coffee in the morning and when doing work is essential to have that extra edge to get shit done, cutting out tea has reduced dehydration and a serious amount of sugar out of my diet which can only be good!

My cup of the hot stuff also falls into my hand when I hit the books, like Bruce Lee’s Striking Thoughts, a bit of philosophy then everyone should have a look at!

How to Crush your day!

Hate mornings?

Yeah so do I.

Feel like you get fuck all done by the time six o clock comes around?

It’s a shit feeling I know all about it and have felt guilty constantly for not doing stuff I said I’d do the night before.

Find yourself getting motivated when you go to bed?

Then not being able to get up when the alarm rings in your ear the next morning?

It happens all of us. Alot.

One way I’ve found to get into daily rituals and getting shit done quicker and more efficient than expected is to prepare.

Not to get OCD about the whole day with time, food and meeting people. But being one step ahead so you feel you get more done than you thought you ever could in a day besides a week.

Go buy a small book and write down a small to do list for the following day.

A light, small, pocket size small notepad to have on your locker or under your bed (that’ where mine is) where before bed or in bed you can jot down shit you need to do for the next day.

Keep it away from others so it’s your own personal success pad over the day.

Now for most people they jot down a million things then get nothing done and feel like shit.

To begin just put down around six or seven things that you know you can get done.

For me things such as drinking coffee, to reading a chapter of a new book I may have bought, to checking and deleting e-mails.

The checking and deleting e-mails is one that everyone should include, cut out the stress out 3,879 unread e-mails out of your life.

It seems so simple but the feeling of crossing out things on your list gives you that sense of progress and achievement.

Making this a habit and simple routine of your day will put you in the 5% of the population who actually get shit done in a day and have time to do more stuff they love rather than complaining that they’re too busy!

Cause nobody is ever too busy.

Now I gotta go tick this blog post off my list.

Top 3 Boxers Ever. (From my view)

I know what your thinking it’s impossible to pick the top 3 boxers to ever step inside the ring. But I’ll give it a go anyways. This will look at raw talent, the era’s from where these boxers came and some statistics. With so many divisions it’s near impossible due to questions land statements like:

“well he fought for only so many years”,

“there were only two decent fighters in that class”,

or “Na he wasn’t one of the greats”. 

Here it goes!

3. Joe Louis. (1914-1981)

Louis helped elevate boxing from a decline in popularity. Standing at 6 ft 2 in Louis had 70 fights. With 66 wins and 52 knockouts he only lost 3 times. For any era that is amazing especially in a raw era of lack of professional help like we see in today’s boxers. Louis was victorious in 25 title defenses. The “Brown-Bomber” He is widely regarded as the first African American to achieve the status of a nationwide hero within the U.S.

2. Mike Tyson. 

Love him or hate him this man is one of the most feared and clinical boxers ever to step inside the ring. Iron Mike won all 3 heavyweight championship title belts by the age of twenty. Growing up in Brookyln and standing a 5ft 11in in his career he had 58 fights, 50 wins and 44 by knockout. Tyson successfully defended the world heavyweight championship nine times. With his record of Junior Olympic quickest KO at 8 seconds you can see clips of fercious hits and first round knockout’s of the “baddest man on the planet” to prove his worth in my top three.  Although he had many problems outside the ring in his best form he couldn’t be stopped inside the ring.

1.Floyd Mayweather.

And still the best pound for pound. Floyd the money machine tops my list. Now I know he may seem like a mere boy to other men of the boxing greatest but there is no arguing he is the best. At a time where boxing is an elite professional game with conditioning to an impeccable quality Floyd is at the top of the game. His record of 47 fights with 47 wins is something no one can deny is great. Countless times he has precisely broken down anyone in the ring who is “the boxer to beat Mayweather”. Not losing since the 80’s he faces probably his biggest test against Manny Pacquiao on May the 2nd. But in my books Floyd will pick his punches and beat him down the way he wants to still being undefeated. Moving through five weight classes the fact that he hasn’t been genuinely stunned or hurt by a single punch in his entire career reinforces why he tops the bill.

It’s boring as fuck and isn’t healthy and productive if your still lifting the same weights for the last year and your making no progress.

I mixed my routine up and switched to a “Barbell Clean and Press”.

This is putting weight on the bar, lifting it up to your quads, getting your form right by thrusting your hips and flicking the bar to your shoulders. Then the final stage of lifting and pushing the barbell up above your head.

Benefits of this exercies inlude:

  • Uses nearly every muscle in your body.
  • Glutes Quads Hamstrings Back Shoulders Arms Core
  • Once you’re comfortable doing it, though, you’ll have a powerful, athletic looking physique
  • Increases grip strength
  • Increases all round stability
  • Being cool and different as fuck to be able to throw 60kg easily over there head.

With this exercise you can then incorporate a military press which isjust resting the bar while standing and pushing it up thn returning to your chest. Also mixing this up by putting the bar behind your head will build upper body and lower body stability, espiceally shoulders and traps!

Most sites and people will try and drill reps and sets into you online to make them sound smarter than another. However for this exercise its all about trial and error to see what sets you can do along with the reps. The fact it’s an full body exercise means your gonna be different to others but in the end it’s only what you can do over time building stability and power.
